Prior to the Mt. Meru Coffee Project, coffee growers in Tanzania were at the mercy of a corrupt system that meant they were either underpaid or not paid at all for their coffee, despite the fact that their coffee is some of the best in the world. Those of you who are coffee connoisseurs will recognize that the conditions under which their coffee is grown--shade-grown at high altitude in volcanic soil--makes for premier coffee indeed!

Tanzania is one of the poorest countries in the world and the people there have little access to health care and education. The Mt. Meru Coffee Project is a partnership between the churches of southeast Wisconsin and local coffee farmers. Our project buys coffee directly from the farmers, paying them almost three times the price they could get from commercial coffee buyers. This increase makes a huge difference in the lives of farm families. Proceeds from the sales provides for much needed funding for schools and clinics in the Mt. Meru diocese. Meanwhile, the people of southeastern Wisconsin obtain gourmet coffee!

Make a consumer choice that responds to Christ's call to help the poor by ordering your coffee through the Mt. Meru Coffee Project! Orders for coffee are taken on an ongoing basis. Choose regular or decaf, freshly ground or whole bean, and order yours today!

CareNet Pregnancy Center in Kenosha provides free counseling, support, and education for those faced with an unplanned pregnancy. Their mission is to empower women to make informed choices. For more information on their ministry, visit their website at www.carenetkenosha.org .

The women of Messiah collect new or slightly used infant clothing 0-9 months for distribution through CareNet Pregnancy Center's Baby Boutique. Monetary donations are also welcome.
